About Us:

You Are Needed By The Red Cross.  Right Now.
The American Red Cross depends on volunteers, who constitutes 97 percent of the total work force, to carry on our humanitarian work.  175,000 volunteers worked to prevent, prepare for, and respond to nearly 64,000 disaster accidents last year.  Out of the 15 million Americans who enrolled into various health and safety courses, more than 230,000 people volunteered to teach these courses.  Additionally, half of the nations' blood supply-six million parts annually-is collected by more that 190,000 Red Cross volunteers.  Also, over 24,000 volunteers serve as chairs, members of boards of directors, or on advisory boards for local Red Cross units--Chapters, Blood Services regions, and Military Installations.

Who are Red Cross Volunteers?

We are people who help with a single event or several times a month.  Some of us have been involved in our communities for 10, 20, even 80 years or more--providing lifesaving services and leadership and helping to prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.  We represent our communities, and we speak many languages.  We are all different ages and ethnicities.  Join us!
